
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenez, September 2, 1966)[3][4][5]), is an American and Mexican actress. In Mexico she began her career by playing the character as Teresa in the television show (1989-1991) and El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) in which she received an Ariel Award. She soon established herself in Hollywood with appearances in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's performance as Frida the painter in Frida (2002) in which she also produced, made Hayek the first Mexican actress to receive the Academy Award [6]. It also earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek starred in the action-packed Once Upon a Time in Mexico film in the years following and shifted her focus to producing.
