Having been first inspired by the shadows of trees she observed in the grass, she set about delving into a technique thatconversely didn't present the chosen subject as a 2-dimensional representation on canvas. When the objects are alive or perishable, such as fruit and even people, they become a painting of their own. Alexa Meade's distinctive style of painting that is extremely ephemeral nature, is apparent. The only piece of Alexa's art that survives is the photograph. Photographs and painting are coordinated to create two-dimensional flat surface which is trompe-l'oeil. Certain places the three-dimensional space can be visible, like around the eye or on the hair. Meade is also able to integrate her models painted by Meade into the space of 3D that surrounds the models. Interaction between them and the created environment is conceivable. By doing so, Meade has dissolved the boundaries between photography, painting and performance.
